Liu Tienan, a former senior economic planning official, is sentenced to life in prison by the Langfang Intermediate People's Court on Dec 10, 2014.

Chinese court on Wednesday sentenced Liu Tienan, a former senior economic planning official, to life in prison.

Liu, formerly deputy head of the National Development and Reform Commission and head of the National Energy Administration, was convicted of bribery by the Langfang Intermediate People's Court in north China's Hebei Province.
