Beijing Subway has issued a regulation prohibiting passengers from carrying on bags that are larger than 25 square centimeters (9.84 square inches) in Dahongmen, Shiliuzhuang and Jiaomendong stations, the Beijing Daily reported.
A spokesman for the Beijing Subway said the new rule was put in place to protect the safety of passengers and prevent disputes. With the three stations located close to a wholesale clothing market, passengers often brought large bags that block other passengers from entering the subway cars, he said.
Currently, the new regulation is in place only for these three stations.
