China's political advisors on Friday convened a meeting to discuss better protection of villages in the face of fast urbanization.
The meeting was presided over by Yu Zhengsheng, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
Political advisors agreed that historical villages are witness to China's history and are a precious non-renewable resource. They noted that many villages are not well protected and natural environment around them has deteriorated through lack of funds and disorderly exploitation.
The advisors suggested that the central government give more policy support for the village preservation and avoid excessive commercial operations.
