Twelve people were killed and another three were slightly injured in an expressway pileup early Saturday morning in south China's Guangdong Province, local authorities said.
The accident happened around 2 am on the Yuegan Expressway, which links Guangdong's Heyuan city and Jiangxi's Ganzhou city, when a truck loaded with wood rolled over due to faulty brakes, causing a collision with the following three trucks, a mini bus and a car. The following five vehicles caught on fire after the collision.
The injured people have been hospitalized, and traffic will be resumed soon, authorities said.
