Senior PLA officer mourns victims of Pakistan school attack

Wang Guanzhong, deputy chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, on Friday went to the Pakistani Embassy in Beijing to mourn the victims of Tuesday's terror attack on an army-run public school in Pakistan.

Wang strongly condemned the attack against students and teachers, extending deep condolences to the victims and sympathy to the families of victims.

He said China and Pakistan are good brothers, and the Chinese armed forces will always stand by the Pakistani people and military, and would like more anti-terrorism cooperation with the Pakistani armed forces.

Pakistani Ambassador to China Masood Khalid appreciated Wang's act on behalf of Chinese military as well as the condolences and support by Chinese leaders, government, military and people.

Condemning the terrorists, he said the attack united the Pakistani government and people, making their will to fight terrorist ever more resolute.

Pakistan will work closely with China to combat terrorist, separatism and extremism, he said.

An army-run public school in Pakistan's northwest city of Peshawar was attacked by militants on Tuesday, and a total of 141 people, including 132 students, were killed and 133 injured.
