Taiwan novelist Chiung Yao's plagiarism case will go on public trial on Dec 25.

According to the official Sina Weibo account of No 3 Intermediate People's Court in Beijing, the court will publically hear Chen Zhe's (Chiung's real name) lawsuit against mainland screenwriter Yu Zheng for plagiarism at 2 pm.

Taiwan-based Chiung pressed charges against Yu on May 27, claiming that the plot of the TV series The Palace: The Lost Daughter was almost completely copied without permission from her novel Plum Blossom Scar.

Chiung seeks 20 million RMB in compensation.

A total of 109 Chinese screenwriters voiced support for the novelist on Dec 11, condemning all forms of plagiarism and saying they sought justice in the case.
