Many fireworks vendors have been recently promoting environmentally friendly fireworks, which adopt the same sulfur-free techniques used in the fireworks celebration during the APEC (Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation) meetings in Beijing in November, 2014, the Beijing Times reported.
The new technology limits the use of the chemical explosive black powder in fireworks by 60 percent, which reportedly largely reduces air pollution.
This year, the period for fireworks sales in Beijing has been cut in half from the usual 20 days to 10 days.
