"Hobbit: The Battle Of Five Armies" has won the North American box office champion for a consecutive third week on Sunday, scoring a weekend sale of 21.9 million US dollars.
In three weeks of exhibition over the Christmas period, the sequel had a running total of 220.8 million dollars in ticket sales in the United States and Canada, according to box-office firm Rentrak.
"Into The Woods" ranked second with a weekend sale of 19 million dollars, in its second week of showings. It has harvested a total of 91.2million dollars in ticket sales to date.
The third place was taken by "Unbroken," Angelina Jolie's World War II survival tale, with 3.2 million dollars.
The Relativity Media horror sequel "Woman In Black 2: Angel Of Death", the only debut of the week, came fourth with 15.1 million dollars.
Other top 10 movies at the U.S. and Canadian box offices were "Night At The Museum: Secret Of The Tomb" , "Annie" , "The Imitation Game" , "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1", "The Gambler" and "Big Hero 6".
