The top leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Friday stressed the Party's role in major state organs.
The Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee on Friday heard work reports from the "leading Party groups" in the five major organs -- the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress; the top legislature; the State Council; the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee; the Supreme People's Court (SPC); and the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP).
President Xi Jinping, who is also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the conference, according to a statement issued after the meeting.
The meeting said the central leadership must be strengthened to rejuvenate the nation, deepen reform and advance rule of law.
While the CPC Central Committee supports the work of the five organs, leading Party groups at these organs play a vital role.
"Leading Party groups" are important to support the leadership of CPC in non-CPC establishments, it said.
The meeting noted that in the past year, these groups had followed the Central Committee's leadership and had safeguarded the authority of the committee.
The five organs had focused on their major tasks, followed the requirements of the Party Constitution and fulfilled their duties. They also paid attention to political and ideological work, according to the statement.
The meeting said the five bodies ensured the implementation of major policies and instructions made by the central authority, and had made active contributions to the Party and the state.
The meeting stressed that this year was a key year for overall reform. It would also be the first full year of comprehensively advancing the rule of law, and the last year of the 12th five-year plan.
The meeting urged leading party groups to strengthen themselves, through the improvement of systems and enhanced integrity.
