CBA roundup: Guangdong rise to top with 22th straight win

Former NBA player Yi Jianlian scored 32 points and led Guangdong to an easy home victory over Jiangsu 124-94, while Liaoning was beaten by Guangsha 120-113 in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league on Wednesday.

Guangdong's Wang Shipeng scored 24 points and Will Bynum had 17 points. Zhu Fangyu and Gao Shang combined for 26 points. Jiangsu's Tony Douglas had 22 points and Arnett Moultrie finished with 21 points and 18 rebounds.

The score was close at the beginning of the game, but Jiangsu's defensive problems gave Guangdong the opportunity to expand the lead to 23 points in the end of third quarter.

After beating Jiangsu, Guangdong extended their winning streak to 22 games and rose to top of the CBA standings.

Guangsha beat Liaoning 120-113 with six players scored double digits. Guangsha's Lin Zhijie had 31 points and 5 assists, Eli Holman had a double-double of 26 points and 16 rebounds, Kevin Murphy finished with 22 points and 9 rebounds.

Liaoning's Lester Hudson had 32 points, Deon Thompson had 23 points, Guo Ailun and Han Dejun combined for 33 points.

Holman took efficient inside shots in the beginning and helped Guangsha lead 30-21 at the end of first quarter. After that Liaoning had several chances to reverse but 3-pointers from Lin Zhijie and Zhao Dapeng in the crucial moments helped Guangsha to seal the victory.

Randolph Morris had 35 points and 16 rebounds to lead Beijing beat Xinjiang 115-106, ending Xinjiang's three-game winning streak.

In other games, Zhejiang beat Tianjin 121-116, Fujian edged Foshan 126-116, Jilin defeated Shanxi 135-91, Shanghai lost to Dongguan 108-100, Shandong downed Chongqing 114-88, Qingdao upset Sichuan 104-84 and Tongxi were 125-122 winners over Bayi.
