A construction worker died and 16 others were injured when a building collapsed at a school in east China's Jiangxi Province shortly after midnight, local authorities said.
The eight-story building under construction toppled at around 1 a.m. Thursday, trapping dozens of workers at the campus of Jiangxi Science and Technology Normal University, the provincial government said in a press release.
The university is located in Honggutan New District in the provincial capital Nanchang.
Rescuers and sniffer dogs searched the debris until daybreak for survivors. As of Thursday morning, all the injured workers were hospitalized.
