Cambodian parliament chief supports all activities to promote Cambodia-China ties

Cambodian President of the National Assembly Heng Samrin on Tuesday voiced his support to all joint activities between Cambodia and China in advancing ties and cooperation in culture and information, a spokesman said.

Samrin made his remarks during a meeting with Zhao Jin, member of Standing Committee of the Chinese Communist Party of Yunnan Province and head of Information Department of the province, said Keo Piseth, a spokesman for Samrin.

"Mr. President expresses his support to all cooperation between Cambodia and China in culture and information since these sectors are very important to bring closer relations between people and people," he told reporters after the meeting.

Samrin also praised Cambodia and China's Yunnan province for co- organizing the 2015 Spring Festival Night Show, which will be held Tuesday evening in Phnom Penh, saying that the event reflects the growing exchange of culture between the two countries.

For his part, Zhao said his visit to Cambodia is to attend the 2015 Spring Festival Night Show, which features a variety of performances by Chinese and Cambodian artists.

He said the show is aimed at further enhancing culture and information ties between China and Cambodia.

Meanwhile, Zhao also pledged to encourage more Chinese investors in Yunnan province to explore business opportunities in Cambodia.
