Deputy head of Heilongjiang provincial legislature expelled from CPC

Former deputy head of the standing committee of the people's congress of northeastern Heilongjiang Province, Sui Fengfu, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) and dismissed from public office following an internal graft investigation.

The CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) made the announcement on Friday.

The CCDI investigation found that Sui accepted bribes, cash and gifts; sought profits; and took advantage of his position in the selection and promotion of officials and enterprise management.

Sui is also the former Party chief of Heilongjiang Provincial State-owned Farms Administrative Bureau, which is in charge of the province's state-owned farms.

A relatively low population density and nutricious soil has made Heilongjiang an agricultural powerhouse. It is China's biggest grain producer.

"As a senior Party official, Sui seriously violated Party rules, discipline and law," said the statement, adding that he did not stop his "vile" wrongdoing even after the 18th Party Congress in late 2012.

Sui's illegal gains have been confiscated and his case has been transferred to the judiciary, according to the statement.

He has been under investigation since November.
