More than 70 kilograms of drugs were seized and 20 suspects arrested after an inter-provincial drug ring was busted, police in central China's Hunan Province said on Saturday.
A three-month investigation by police in Changsha, capital of Hunan Province, discovered a drug ring had been transporting drugs from south China's Guangdong Province and selling them in Changsha and Shaoyang, also in Hunan.
Police arrested 20 suspects and seized more than 50 kilograms of methamphetamine and 20 kilograms of processed drugs along with a gun and bullets in a joint operation in Changsha and Shaoyang on December 25. The operation was conducted based on tips obtained a week earlier that showed the drug ring's leader had planned to travel to Guangzhou, Guangdong provincial capital, for more drugs.
In a separate operation, police in east China's Shandong Province said on Thursday that they had closed in on a gang selling drugs online. They arrested seven suspects and seized 15 kilograms of methamphetamine as well as raw materials and equipment for drug production.
