Beijing is hoping to make soccer players out of its youth, and to help this happen, city educators have written a textbook called Sunshine Soccer for elementary and middle schools, according to a report by the Legal Mirror.
The education committee of Chaoyang district announced that the textbook will be distributed to 22 schools in its district as a pilot trial, and 20 more schools will join the trial in September.
Beijing is also developing a campus soccer association, establishing a youth soccer training center, organizing summer and winter camps for soccer training, and building 200 soccer schools.
The city plans to accomplish a system of league matches on four levels - city, district, school and class levels, to achieve the goal of holding more than 10,000 soccer matches on campuses in the city each year.
