Liao Yongyuan, general manager of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), one of the nation's oil giants, is being investigated for suspected "serious law and discipline violations," according to a statement released Monday by the Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.
Liao, who had been the general manager for less than a year, is the first person from CNPC to be detained by anti-corruption authorities in 2015, domestic news portal caijing.com.cn reported Monday.
