Falling boulder kills 7 in S China, 8 Taiwanese injured

Seven people were killed and 25 others, including eight Taiwanese tourists, were injured when a huge boulder fell off a mountain in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on Thursday morning.

Four people were confirmed dead at the scene. Three others died in hospital. The tragedy occurred at around 9:25 a.m in the Diecai Mountain,Guilin City. A tourist group was visiting the site at the time.

As of 6 p.m., two of the injured tourists remained in hospital in a stable condition.

The city's land and resources department has sent personnel to check sites at risk of this kind of accident.

Guilin is famous for its mountainous landscape, prone to landslides. Visitors are cautioned to beware of falling boulders at the site where the incident occurred.
