During a meeting with a delegation from Japan on Monday, Chinese political advisor Yu Zhengsheng said that China-Japan relations were resuming and improving due to the effort of both sides.
Yu, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said here that the visit by the Japanese delegation of ruling parties was of significance.
The Japanese delegation was led by Sadakazu Tanigaki, secretary general of the Liberal Democratic Party, and Yoshihisa Inoue, secretary general of the Komei Party.
During the meeting, Yu expressed the hope that the Japanese side would work with China to earnestly abide by the four principled agreement and reinforce the political basis of their relations.
Yu, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee's Political Bureau, said exchanges between the ruling parties of both countries had played an important role in improving relations between China and Japan.
He said the CPC attaches importance to friendly ties with the two ruling parties in Japan and would like to to further increase high-level contact and beef up exchanges to consolidate the basis for the strategic relationship of mutual benefits between the two countries.
The Japanese side said a meeting between the leaders of the two countries last year had laid ground for improvement of the bilateral relations. They expressed the hope that relations would continue to be advanced.
