Overall profit of the domestic civil aviation sector fell 26 percent year-on-year in 2011 to 26 billion yuan (US$4.12 billion), according to the latest report from the Civil Aviation Administration of China.
The report also said that airline freight reached 5.52 million tons, down 2 percent year-on-year, while passenger flow reached 290 million, up 8.2 percent. An industry insider said that the domestic sector's supply of aircraft is insufficient, and that the number of aircraft in service will increase by around 150 this year.
