New transnational route to open in S China

A new transnational route linking South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and Vietnam will open in August, further boosting border trade between the two countries, authorities with the local transport department said on March 11.

To promote trade development and people-to-people communication between China and Vietnam, the route linking Baise, Guangxi, and Cao Bang, Vietnam, has recently been approved by China's Ministry of Transport.

The route is expected to begin operating in August, allowing people and cargo moving from Baise to Cao Bang, and vice versa, to travel directly along the route.

Ten transnational routes have already opened in Guangxi, according to the local transport department.

Baise is located in northwestern Guangxi, bordering China's Guizhou and Yunnan provinces and Vietnam. It is an important traffic hub in southwestern China and a key site for two-way trade between China and ASEAN countries.
