China Power Investment Corp, a partner in a $3.6 billion hydropower plant in Myanmar, said it is in talks with the Southeast Asian nation on resuming the project, which was suspended after protests by local residents.
The Chinese company "wants to restart the Myitsone project at the right time to ensure safety and meet the demands of local residents", Lu Qizhou, president of the State-owned China Power, said at a briefing in Beijing on Saturday.
