Experts are urging the government to require the issuance of electronic invoices for purchases made on group buying websites.
Group buying websites, which offer shoppers discounted deals on various products and services, are popular shopping channels for young people, yet they do not issue invoices in order to avoid paying tax.
Analysts estimate the total turnover of the group purchasing industry will reach 50 billion yuan ($7.92 billion) in 2012. Unless the government compels these companies to issue invoices, it stands to lose as much as 2 billion yuan in annual tax revenues.
