(Ecns.cn)--Royal Dutch Shell Group, or Shell, announced on Tuesday that the global oil and gas company will transfer some of its technical departments to China, aiming at improving its technical service and R&D capability in the country, according to Beijing Business Today.
The centers being moved to Beijing are the unconventional gas and coalbed methane center and the global gasification business department, while one of the company's global lubricants technology centers will be based in Shanghai, according to the report.
"Technology is Shell's core competitiveness, and because we are now more connected to the Chinese customers and market, we will be capable to deliver our services in a more efficient and low-cost way," said Matthias Bichsel, Director Projects & Technology.
Shell is also cooperating with China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC) to jointly develop and produce natural gas in China's Sixhuan Basin under a 30-year contract.
