China Jiangsu Export Commodities Exhibition 2012 opened in Osaka, western Japan Tuesday, with more than 200 firms from the Chinese coastal province attending the event.
The three-day event, held in "MyDome Osaka," a major exhibition hall in central Osaka, is organized by the Department of Commerce of Jiangsu Province in cooperation with Japan-China Economic Relations and Trade Center and Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The 16th trade fair, the largest ever launched in Japan, covers an area 5,000 square meters, with 280 booths on three floors. A wide range of products such as shoes, clothes, home fabrics and daily commodities are on display.
Li Lei, an official of the Jiangsu delegation told a press conference that the number of exhibitors this year almost doubled compared with last year when many companies in the province withdrew over fear of radiation in the wake of Fukushima nuclear accident.
He expressed the hope the fair would further boost business opportunities between Jiangsu and Osaka.
"Based on the research in advance we increased the number of booths to display daily commodities this year, occupying almost the whole space on the ground floor," he said.
The organizers expect more than 4,000 buyers to come to the event.
