China welcomes Luxembourg to play an active role in China's economic construction, Chinese top legislator Wu Bangguo said Wednesday.
Wu made the remarks when meeting with Grand Duke of Luxembourg Henri.
China is implementing its 12th Five-Year Plan with a focus on accelerating the transformation of its economic growth model and readjusting its economic structure, while Luxembourg, a world financial center, has advantages in service industries, high-end manufacturing and logistics, said Wu, who was on an official visit to Luxembourg.
He welcomed Luxembourg to actively participate in China's economic construction and said China would continue to support its enterprises to use Luxembourg as a platform for trade and investment cooperation with European countries.
Wu also lauded Luxembourg's unique and important role in such mechanisms as the Eurogroup, saying China would not change its stance on developing friendly cooperation with Luxembourg, one of the founders of the European Union.
Henri, for his part, said China's continuous development has brought more opportunities for European countries including Luxembourg and is a positive factor for the recovery of the global economy.
He also hoped Luxembourg could become a bridge between Chinese investors and the European market.
Wu left Luxembourg for Madrid Wednesday afternoon to continue his four-nation European tour, which had taken him to the Netherlands and Croatia.
