The law firm who represented Proview Technology (Shenzhen) in a dispute with Apple over ownership of the iPad name is suing its client for not paying $2.4 million in attorney fees, ifeng.com reported Monday.
Grandall Legal Group, who helped Proview win a $60 million settlement from Apple on July 2, has accused the debt-ridden company of defaulting on attorney fees.
Xie Xianghui, a major partner of the law firm, confirmed the action to ifeng.com. Proview has yet to respond.
Xie claims Grandall Legal Group and Proview signed a contingency fee contract to cover costs for the past two years and the company agreed to pay $2.4 million after it won the case.
Proview Technology (Shenzhen) allegedly owes more than $400 million to eight Chinese banks, according to media reports.
