Train services resumed on the flood-hit Southern Xinjiang Railway in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region on Sunday morning, local authorities said.
The line linking Kashgar and Turpan reopened at 7:44 a.m. after nearly 1,000 workers and excavators were mobilized to the sites, according to the Urumqi Railway Bureau.
Flooding and mudslides unleashed by continuous rains damaged tracks and bridges at several sections of the line, forcing train services to be temporarily suspended, the bureau said.
Five trains that were operating along the line on Saturday were quickly called to dock at nearby stations, and no casualties have been reported.
