With rapid development in the software and service outsourcing industry in the past decade, China has become the second largest offshore outsourcing destination country, right after India.
A service outsourcing summit was held in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, on July 25, to meet the needs and requirements of the industry's future development.
The summit brings up service innovation as the new element that will support the industry's development. And a report on the achievement of Chengdu's personnel attracting and training work was issued at the summit as well.
Chengdu, one of the 21 model cities in the service outsourcing industry, has 153,200 professionals, of whom 70 percent have a bachelor's degree or above.
The amount of contracts in the city's offshore outsourcing industry reached 610 million dollars last year, growing about 47 percent from a year earlier. The real sum put into use was 470 million dollars, a 81 percent rise year on year. Both of the two numbers rank first in West China.
Sofmit Group, a leading outsourcing company in Chengdu, organized the event. Sofmit and five other local companies entered the top 100 list of China's service outsourcing enterprises in 2011.
The event aims to demonstrate the market potential of the city in software and service outsourcing and attract more investment from outstanding enterprises in the industry.
