Macao's CPI reaches 6.04% in July

Macao's Composite Consumer Price Index (CPI) for July this year increased by 6.04 percent year-on- year to 117.54, according to the figures released Tuesday by the city's Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).

In comparison with July 2011, price index of alcoholic beverages and tobacco, Housing and fuels, and food and non- alcoholic beverages recorded notable year-on-year increase of 32. 47 percent, 8.36 percent and 8.2 percent respectively during the period, due to dearer prices of vegetable as well as higher charges for dining out, according to the figures.

Meanwhile, price index of communication decreased by 6.53 percent year-on-year.

The average Composite CPI for the first seven months of 2012 increased by 6.37 percent year-on-year. For the 12 months ended July 2012, the average Composite CPI increased by 6.45 percent from the previous period.
