China Construction Bank Corporation (CCB), the world's second largest bank in terms of market value, has recently come up with a new breed of automated teller machines (ATM) which could help identify fake yuan notes.
The new ATM looks no different than commonly used ones, but can print receipts indicating serial numbers of the paper notes that have been deposited to or withdrawn from the machine, offering a solution to track fake notes, Beijing News reported Friday. Each bank note has its unique serial number.
In addition to CCB's anti-fake efforts, some other banks have also been updating their ATM network to boost penetration of the new ATMs, the newspaper said, without revealing details.
