Dairy giant Mengniu Dairy Co said that all the company's raw milk will only be collected from its own farms or large-scale farms by 2015, to better guarantee the quality and safety of its products.
The statements were made by Sun Yiping, chief executive officer of the company, at an event on Thursday night to unveil the company's new packaging for its products.
In the past, the company also collected raw milk from smaller dairy farms.
Mengniu, which is based in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, released its new packaging on Thursday in Beijing.
With white milk as the background and an image of green grass, the new packaging is said to represent the quality of every drop of the company's milk. This was the first time in 13 years that the company changed its packaging.
Chen Yu, an expert from the China Dairy Industry Association, said that the new packaging is an attempt by Mengniu, which suffered from some quality problems in recent months, to change its image.
On Sept 5, Mengniu signed a contract with Swedish-Danish company Arla Foods to help improve its farming processes, milk quality and Mengniu's ability to trace its products up and downstream.
