Macao's visitor arrivals in package tours increased by 24.8 percent year on year to 913,613 in August this year, according to the latest date released by the city's Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC).
The figure showed that visitor arrivals in package tours in August from the Chinese mainland (674,949) went up by 28.3 percent, with 280,952 coming from Guangdong Province. Besides, those from Taiwan (77,749), Hong Kong (36,183), South Korea (33,169) and Japan (27,518) increased by 41.2 percent, 4.0 percent, 8.6 percent and 36.4 percent respectively.
In the first eight months of 2012, visitor arrivals in package tours increased by 24.8 percent year-on-year to 5,821,972, accounting for 31.1 percent among the total tourists.
Meanwhile, the number of local residents travelling outbound in package tours in August surged by 56.3 percent year on year to 267,780. The Chinese mainland and South Korea were the most popular tourist destinations, according to the Bureau.
