The number of mainland tourists to Taiwan during this year's week-long National Day holiday tripled, a spokesman said on Wednesday.
Mainland visitors amounted to 46,700, three times that of the previous year, Yang Yi, spokesman for the State Council's Taiwan Affairs Office, said at a regular press conference.
Of the number of visitors, 12,900 were individual tourists, who booked their own trips without the help of agencies.
