US beverage maker Pepsi Co and Tingyi (Cayman Islands) Holdings Corp said Thursday that they opened a beverage factory in Zhengzhou, capital of Central China's Henan Province, targeting central and western markets in China.
With an area of 24,000 square meters, the factory has two production lines, but projected annual production was not specified.
It is the first beverage factory opened by the two companies since they formed a strategic alliance in March this year. The alliance owns more than 70 factories and distribution channels across the nation.
According to Pepsi, its annual income from emerging markets has increased to $22 billion in 2011 from $8 billion in 2006.
