China's securities regulatory commission has recently unveiled a new batch of IPO applicants, some of which are well-known Chinese heritage brands. These include the most famous pork buns in China - made with an 150-year-old recipe.
This comes as consumers and investors alike gain appreciation for the value of China's heritage brands. It also marks the re-ignition of China's food and catering companies applying to go public.
Local governments are also pushing new policies to support and preserve these traditional brands, by helping out with financing and using branding to boost the local economy. Once listed, these heritage brands have a pretty good track record.
Popular Peking Duck chain Quan Ju de has seen its returns double, four years after its listing.
