Vice Premier Li Keqiang has called for joint efforts from global mining industries to keep supplies of minerals steady to help with the global recovery.
Li made the comments on Monday in a congratulatory letter addressed to the 14th China Mining Congress & Expo, which is being held from Nov. 3 to 6 in Tianjin.
Li urged global mining industries to adopt an open and cooperative mentality to ensure market balance.
He said China, as a major minerals producer and consumer, has provided substantial support to the sound development of the mining industry.
"With the advance of industrialization and urbanization, China will continue to expand mining exploration according to domestic needs..., while working with international communities to constructively promote the sound development in the sector," he said.
The annual China Mining Congress & Expo, co-hosted by the Ministry of Land and Resources and Tianjin municipality, has attracted about 6,000 participants from more than 55 countries and regions.
