The first meeting of the China-ASEAN Interconnection Cooperation Council has been held in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta. Among the meeting's main concerns are to realise the consensus previously reached by the two sides.
The two sides have reviewed progress in two-way cooperation, with both expressing satisfaction with the results achieved. With the global recession, they have agreed that interconnection and cooperation play a vital role in narrowing gaps in development, enhancing regional competitiveness and economic growth.
The two sides also agreed that a regular meeting aiming to realise consensus should be held.
Chen Jian, high official from Ministry of Commerce of China, has expressed confidence in future cooperation.
Chen said, "The two sides have agreed on the future prospects of cooperation. Through this kind of meeting, we can have a better communication. The meeting is of great help to boost cooperation between the the two sides."
