Hong Kong has raised the Outbound Travel Alert for Israel to red, in view of the recent Gaza conflict.
Hong Kong residents are advised to adjust travel plans and cut non-essential trips. Those already in Israel have been urged to exercise caution, avoid being near to street protests and large gatherings, and to monitor local announcements on the latest situation.
Joseph Tung, executive director of the Travel Industry Council, said there are two Hong Kong tour groups in Israel at present, and they will change itineraries if necessary.
Some 30 tour groups will depart in December, an outbound travel peak, for Middle East destinations, including Israel, Egypt and Jordan. Local travel agencies will contact customers who have signed for these groups to see if they wish to be given a refund.
