Wuxi, a city in the south of Jiangsu province, will be one of the trial cities for China's TD-LTE 4G network, the local government said on Dec 13.
A total of 15 Chinese cities, including Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, are conducting large-scale trials of the homegrown TD-LTE 4G telecom technology.
China Mobile Ltd, the world's largest telecom operator by subscriber base, has been the major force promoting the development of TD-LTE technology in the country.
Wuxi is the second city, after Nanjing, to become a 4G trial city in Jiangsu.
The Wuxi government said the city has completed the construction of its TD-LTE trial network. In February, Wuxi citizens will be able to use the network.
Investments in the TD-LTE industry could bring tens of billions of yuan to Wuxi in the near future, and could be a major driver for the city's economic development, the local government said.
