China Mobile launched a dual-mode LTE network in Hong Kong Tuesday, marking China's advance into fourth generation (4G) mobile networks as it couples homegrown TD-LTE technology with the existing FDD-LTE mode.
Roaming charges will not change for Hong Kong China Mobile subscribers after the commercial launch of the dual-mode 4G network, which gives users automatic access to LTE services, the carrier said Tuesday in a statement.
China Mobile previously launched its FDD-LTE network in Hong Kong in April, becoming the second carrier there to provide 4G services.
