Japan in WTO dispute with China over seamless tubes

2012-12-21 14:06 CNTV     Web Editor: yaolan comment

The World Trade Organization says Japan is seeking to overturn China's decision to levy anti-dumping duties on Japanese exports of high performance stainless steel seamless tubes, which are used in coal-fired power plants.

Japan says the measures are apparent breaches of several articles of the Anti-dumping Agreement and other provisions of GATT 1994. China's Ministry of Commerce announced the results of an anti-dumping investigation against the products in November and decided to impose anti-dumping duties over the products from Japan and other countries starting on the 9th of November, for a period of five years. Previously Japan had challenged China jointly with the United States and the European Union over export restrictions on rare earth metals, tungsten and molybdenum. That case is still under adjudication.
