Wuliangye liquor investigated for price monopoly

2013-01-18 14:02 CNTV     Web Editor: yaolan comment

Well-known Chinese liquor maker Wuliangye is being investigated for price monopoly, as reported by China National Radio, citing a leak from the state planning agency, the National Development & Reform Commission.

This is the second Chinese liquor maker to be probed for such behaviour after Maotai's price fixing came to light this week. Maotai and Wuliangye had ordered their dealers to maintain a price floor--and Maotai even penalised some dealers for selling below the minimum, which prompted the anti-monopoly investigation.

Maotai has since scrapped the price floor, and returned the fines. Wuliangye is now still being probed by price supervisory authorities.
