China's Feb manufacturing PMI falls

2013-03-01 14:13 CNTV     Web Editor: yaolan comment

China's manufacturing sector's purchasing managers' index has fallen to 50.1 percent in February from 50.4 percent in January.

The deputy director of China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing Cai Jin says the index indicates manufacturing growth is still steady. And the slight retreat is normal for the Spring Festival season.

A reading above 50 percent indicates expansion, while a reading below 50 percent indicates contraction. Meanwhile, the index for new orders also declined in February. New orders for exports specifically has fallen below 50 percent for two consecutive months.

Cai Jin says this means China now faces more uncertainty in exports growth, and should further expand domestic consumption to keep sustainable economic growth.
