In the past four years, 57 percent of global investment in new plants for producing cars and parts has flowed into China, according to a recent report by Canada's University of Windsor.
The report attributes this to the fact that the world's auto market has not yet recovered from the financial crisis, which means new investment is now mostly concentrated in emerging markets.
