China to revitalize old industrial bases

Apart from the upcoming China-Northeast FTA, policymakers also say they will make efforts to revitalize the country's old industrial bases.

China's top economic planner, the National Development and Reform Commission says that will involve 95 prefecture-level cities and 25 provincial and capital cities.

The revitalization plan, starts from this year and will run through 2020, with a focus on upgrading old industrial bases and changing them into more eco-friendly and high-tech oriented cities.

The NDRC has set detailed targets for water and energy consumption cuts and boosting the high tech industry in order to create new jobs.
