The national airline of Mauritius plans a direct flight to Beijing, China in July, the carrier of the Indian Ocean island country disclosed here on Friday.
The plan is part of a promotion campaign organized by the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) and its partners in China.
The is the latest development after more than 170 Chinese tourism professionals, travel agents and tour operators attended shows sponsored by the tourist office in Mauritius on March 26-27.
For the moment, Air Mauritius provides seven flights between China's Shanghai and Mauritius per week.
The number of visitors from China is rising by a yearly 271.6 percent, according to Statistics Mauritius.
In February 2013, Chinese tourist arrivals hit 5,229 against 1, 407 recorded in February 2012.
