Data casting doubt on the strength of China's recovery. China's total power usage rose just 4.3% in the first quarter to 1.21 trillion kilowatts, the growth is the slowest in four years, according to the National Energy Administration.
This follows lower than expected GDP growth of 7.7% -- released Monday. Analysts say usually the more electricity is used, the faster the economy grows. The gap between the two numbers may signify underlying weakness in the economy.
