Chrysler Group will recall 4,783 cars in China due to problems with siphons in the fuel tank, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said Friday.
The company will recall Compass and Patriot models produced between October 18, 2011 and May 7, 2012. The administration said that the siphon problems could cause engines to freeze up in cases of high heat, high altitude or high fuel vapor pressure.
The recall will begin on July 8, and Chrysler will replace defective siphons free of charge.
