In order to tap into China's customers' demand for more efficient product distribution, Swedish high-tech industrial group Sandvik opened its first Chinese distribution center in Shanghai on Wednesday.
The distribution center, the fourth of its kind for the company, will focus on local Chinese customers by reducing average order delivery times at least 24 hours and managing to deliver 99 percent of inventory goods within 48 hours.
The distribution center will be able to deliver up to 85 percent of the products to customers within the next day. The products used to arrive in the third day after the orders, said Annika Roos, vice-president of supply chain management of Sandvik Machining Solutions.
According to Roos, it's possible that the distribution center will also cover Hong Kong, Macao and East Asia in the future.
The center covers an area of 6,000 sq m, which will accommodate over 50,000 kinds of products. It covers all machining solutions for customers in China.
"We want to have a higher share of the market, and definitely increase sales," said Roos.
