China is in the process of enacting a law regulating the nation's booming e-commerce sector, the Beijing News reported Sunday, citing a government official.
The country is already working on its first-ever e-commerce law, said Liu Hongliang, director of the Department of Market Regulation under the State Administration for Industry and Commerce. But the legislative process will take time, Liu said, without giving an exact time frame.
Liu made the remarks at a symposium where 12 domestic Internet firms presented complaints about the country's unregulated Internet sector.
